I cannot emphasize enough the need of a Bangla Unicode font with English characters in it especially when you want to make a Bangla website with some English content. One way to go around with the English font is to write "English span class" in CSS code. However, this is not always possible (e.g., in a Joomla driven site it is not possible)
I would really appreciate if anybody can give me some guideline as to how one can add Latin fonts (A, B, a , b .... and 1, 2, 3, > < >= etc) to an existing Bangla font (say, SolaimanLipi or AponaLohit).
I have been trying with the Font Lab software but frankly speaking without any clue it might take a long time before I even come to know the right way. I understand that people have learnt making and editing fonts in the hardest way but I hope you would share this with me. If you do not wish to disclose the secrets on the forum, please PM me.
What I've been up to:
I tried copying glyphs from a font that has English glyphs to my favorite AponaLohit font. But unfortunately, it does not allow me to generate font after I make any change. Note that I followed all the instructions in chapter "Before you Generate Font" given in Font Lab manuals.
I have been successful with other fonts such as Bangla.ttf, Vrinda.ttf but they are very poor in quality. So what might have to be done in order to regenerate a font after adding Latin glyphs? I don't need high quality English characters at the moment, but I desperately need English characters in it.
Thanking you in anticipation.
