I am having problem with Juktakkhors in Adobe Photoshop. The moment I copy it from MS Word to Adobe Photoshop, the juktakkhors become separated with hoshontos. I like Sagar Font a lot and would like to do some work in Adobe Photoshop with it. Presently I am using BN TT Durga font in Adobe Photoshop and it is giving no problems but I want to work with Sagar font. Cannot figure how to make Juktakkhors work with Sagar font in Photoshop. Any help would be appreciated. Has it got anything to do with Unicode support?

Sorry, at this time, Adobe Products don't support UNICODE.

Not only sagor, any unicode based open type font will not show glyphs (e.g. juktakkhar) under Adobe Photoshop.

Everyone,
I would like to inform you that GIMP an OpenSource Alternative to Adobe Photoshop totally supports juktakkars,

You can see an example in this image,
http://www.romitchat.com/bangla/juktakhor_banner.jpg

Notice the noydoy in indic,
Here's a trick I would like to share,
Do all your background graphics in Photoshop,
save it as a .psd document,
Open the file with GIMP, write all your text in notepad with Avro
Copy and paste the text in the input box of GIMP and click OK,
When you paste the text you will notice that the text box will show all garbled text do'nt get confused, the text will appear fine,

Leave all the aligning and text effects stuff for Photoshop as in GIMP it is not that easy or good as Photoshop
Save the file again as psd,
Open it again in Photoshop and do all Aligning and text effects stuff,
You will notice that the Juktakhhors will be fine,
Save the file in your desired format for distribution i.e. jpg or png and you should end up with something like this, Image

Get GIMP here
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/
Remember to install GTK runtime before GIMP which can be downloaded from site only.

Cheers
Romit

Before learning about Avro, I used to use a software called BornoSoft (BS). BS is a very good application and very convenient for Bangla typing.

For PhotoShop (PS), I have found BS to be awesome! As Avro typing doesn't help me with PS, I open up BS and type my text. It has a few font choices like Sulekha Type, Deyalika etc. that are pretty decent.

I then copy the text from BS and then paste it in PS.

I know this is not the best of solutions, but knowing your options always help.

Just a note:
And these are ASCII font..tha's why they support PS...where evry ASCII [Bijoy, Lekhoni, Proshika, Alpoana etc etc] supports PS and a lot of wondeful fonts they have...but we're talking about UNICODE, not ASCII!

The GIMP idea is excellent!

However, those who already use Microsoft Office products have access to another workaround for using Unicode Bangla Font in Photoshop. Open Powerpoint, write in Bangla on a slide with a white background - using whatever color your like (you may even use special effects like shadows), export the entire slide as a PNG image. Next, import that image into Photoshop as a layer, and you can easily remove the white background - leaving just the text.

Use Tanmatra for bengali typing in PS (PS 5.5 to PS CS5)
install it>read the help file> trap PS>type
