Difference between
Unicode 4.1 and
Unicode 4.0:
In the latest Unicode 4.1 we have Bangla
"Khanda ta" as an individual character. Fonts that are
Unicode 4.1 compatible contain this
updated "Khanda ta". In old fonts that are
Unicode 4.0 compatible, show "Khanda ta" glyph when you type
"ta + halant" or "ta + halant + ZWNJ".
As Avro Keyboard follows latest Unicode 4.1
standard, old Bangla fonts are no longer supported to type "Khanda
ta". However, all other Bangla character codes are obviously
unchanged.

Attention Fonts Developers!
We are requesting experienced font developers to join the above
mentioned community. All your contributions will help us and all others
Bangla software/font developers. Here is an invitation message from the "Free
Bangla Fonts Project "-
Volunteering for the Project: Since this is a
volunteer run project, we are always on the lookout for serious volunteers
:). There are a number of jobs that have to be done, like converting
existing fonts into OpenType, writing docs, beta testing, etc. If you are
interested in helping out, please see the
Volunteers page for details.
Moreover, if you are an experienced font developer, you may join the project
as an advisor. If you would like to help out in that way, then please do
join the
mailing lists and announce yourself.
Helping out the Project - Donate Fonts: If you have designed Bangla
fonts, you may consider donating your work to this project. It does not
matter what encoding that font uses, since we will just use the glyphs, and
create Free Unicode compliant fonts out of that. And of course, you will be
mentioned in the CREDITS list, and in the
Donors list. And, regarding copyright, you will be retaining the
copyright of the Glyphs under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL)
version 2 or later. |
